NEWS RELEASE August 19, 2002 Contact: David Madden, (415) 556-6177 Public Information and Community Outreach Committee Goes Online SAN FRANCISCO – The Ninth Circuit’s Public Information and Community Outreach (PICO) Committee has gone online to help promote better public understanding of the work of the federal courts in the western United States. The PICO website – www.ce9.uscourts.gov/pico – serves as a clearinghouse for information and ideas about court programs, activities and events related to media relations and community outreach. The site is accessible via the Internet so it can be visited by lawyers, educators, students and others. Federal courts in the Ninth Circuit are being encouraged to submit articles and pictures about their programs and events. The site also will offer a “Resources” area with detailed information on how programs were organized and materials developed, and provides links to other sites involved in judicial outreach.
